A sharpening (or honing) steel made by F. Dick in the post-WWII U.S. zone in Germany. On the steel, just above the hilt, it is marked as an F DICK piece with their trademark arrow and GERMANY U.S. ZONE. Presumably produced sometime between V-E Day and the creation of the Allied occupation zones in 1945, and 1949, when the American zone was merged with those of Britain and France to form West Germany. The length measures 17". A unique historical piece for any collector!
